MDE is in the process of modernizing the Mississippi Student Information System, MSIS. The modernization of MSIS (MSIS 2.0) will result in a flexible and scalable data system that dramatically increases the timeliness, accuracy, and usability of education data. Unlike systems of the past, we are not defining a single system with pre-defined inputs and outputs, but rather a standards-based framework that allows the system to grow and adapt to the needs of the education community. As such, the system must be built on technologies that allow for agile adjustments using robust management tools with minimal resource and technology adjustments. The desired outcome is a system that leverages integrated tools that manage not just data, but also processes and governance.
