This position provides advanced Java development support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) and the ongoing migration to the Drinking Water State-Federal-Tribal Information Exchange System (DW-SFITES). The Java Developer will serve as a key technical contributor responsible for operational support of the existing SDWIS application while advancing development and integration work required for the transition to DW-SFITES.
This role supports a federal EPA information system and requires the ability to work independently on both operational support and active migration/development efforts. The position requires close coordination with the broader project team to maintain continuity of SDWIS operations while advancing DW-SFITES development goals.
Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-level Java applications (5 Years)
Expertise in complex query development, performance tuning, and data structure design (5 Years)
Experience creating, consuming, and modifying APIs to support system-to-system integration (5 Years)
Experience migrating legacy applications to new platforms, including data conversion and system cutover planning (5 Years)
Ability to work across requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment phases (5 Years)
Experience providing operational support for live systems, including defect diagnosis and resolution under time constraints (5 Years)
